Mayawati exploiting sentiments of Dalits: Congress (I)
Flaying Mayawati for not doing anything for the dalits’ upliftment, Congress (I) has said she has been playing with sentiments of dalits to get their votes to remain in power. If she had been interested in the welfare of the dalits then why did not she implement MNREGA scheme which was meant to give employment to the dalits? Why did not she ensure benefits of health care services reach the dalits under NRHM? Why the money for welfare schemes like Janani Saurakha Yojana and Mid Day Meal disappear into the pockets of the ministers if she wanted welfare of the dalits? Why did Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for free education for dalit children fail under her government if she wanted to improve the lot of the poor? The fact that while these welfare schemes have enormously benefited the dalits in Congress (I) ruled states but failed in UP confirm that Mayawati is not interested in their welfare, said Congress (I).
